Idling at Event Venues:
Excessive idling of delivery trucks, coaches, and other vehicles can often be an issue at public venues such as sports complexes, hotels, theaters, and other event locations and venues. In 2008 the City and County of Denver Department of Environmental Health and the Colorado Convention Center (CCC) conducted a social marketing pilot program to reduce commercial vehicle idling. The pilot program was successful in dramatically reducing the frequency and duration of idling at the CCC (see the results summary graph below), and the City will be applying the lessons learned at this venue to others efforts city-wide.
